The German Ladies Aid Society of Boston was founded in 1886. The organization became incorporated in 1891 and the establishment of a "Home for the Aged" was added to the charter. Deutsches Altenheim was opened in 1914 to service the needs of the elderly, especially those of German descent. The "home", now a 133-bed facility with an Alzheimer unit, is supported by the German Ladies Aid Society. Members meet monthly at the Altenheim. |
